The method behind
your five dimensions.

The exact instrument

Selfmora uses the English 50-item IPIP Big Five Markers sample, representing the five factors in Goldberg, L. R. (1992), The development of markers for the Big-Five factor structure, Psychological Assessment, 4, 26–42. It is not the IPIP-NEO, a facet inventory or a diagnostic screener.

The official sample supplies the exact item order and five accuracy response options. The official factor-key page independently supplies ten items per scale and their positive or negative keys. Sources were checked on 7 October 2026.

Administration

The sample wording and order are preserved. The official site describes its administration layout as suggestions, allowing Internet presentation. Selfmora presents one statement per screen with explicit progression and the instructions always available.

The instruction to describe yourself as you generally are now, relative to peers of roughly the same age and sex, is retained. The sample’s absolute-confidentiality promise is replaced by the actual local data flow. Selfmora does not collect age or sex, infer norms from them or modify scoring for them. The neutral option follows the sample’s “Neither Accurate Nor Inaccurate” wording; the scoring page uses the opposite word order for the same three-point response.

Scoring, without hidden conversions

Positive items assign 1–5 points in response order. Negative items assign 5–1 points. Ten contributions are summed for each scale, yielding 10–50 points. Emotional Stability is kept in its official direction. Intellect / Imagination is not renamed as an intelligence score.

All 50 responses are required in this implementation. IPIP’s general scoring guidance does not prescribe a missing-item procedure for this form, so Selfmora withholds the entire result rather than substituting or prorating. No norms, percentiles, facet scores, cutoffs or probability estimates are applied.

Interpretation limits

  • These are descriptions of your self-reported tendencies, not a diagnosis or a fixed personality type.
  • Scores run from 10 to 50 for each dimension. A position within that range is not a percentile or a comparison with a population.
  • This form measures five broad dimensions. It does not support facet scores, an intelligence score or predictions about your future.
  • Context, self-perception and the way you read a statement can affect your answers. No norm table or measurement uncertainty estimate is applied.

The intended use is adult (18+), English-language self-reflection. This is a product scope decision, not a claim of validation for every adult population. Clinical, employment and high-stakes uses are outside this first version.

Release and review status

Definition 1.0.0, scoring 1.0.0, interpretation 1.0.0 and report 1.0.0 are pinned together with engine schema 1 and locale en-1. Technical fixtures check official mappings, reverse items and complete/incomplete inputs. Automated verification does not establish scientific validity.

This first local version has source-based implementation review. Selfmora’s explanatory and report copy is an editorial draft. Independent measurement/content review and operating privacy review remain requirements before public launch. No clinician or independent expert review is claimed.
